Shaft Spining

Here's something new I'm sure not too many golfers have heard about. Shaft Spining. (aka Shaft Puring ever since it was patented by Dick Weiss)

Although the study and observation is not very new to club makers in the US, it is however very new to the golfing industry. In fact there are only 2 club makers that I know of in the Philippines that are using the shaft puring / spining process. 1) Golfwerx of the TGA (that's us) 2) And our friends over in Shaw Blvd across Wack Wack G&CC.

Golwerx has been using the shaft spining technique for over a year and a half already and have experienced very positive responses from our customers.

This is perhaps one of the biggest break throughs in the golf equipment technology world wide.

How does Shaft Spining work?

Did you know that all golf shafts have a weak point (spine) in it? Yes, steel shafts have one, while graphite shafts have 2, one which is more dominant that the other.

Shaft Spining is pretty much the practice of locating the spine in your shaft & orienting the shaft in a neutral position so that it doesn't affect the shafts performance during the swing. The result, more consistent shots with a tighter shot dispersion.

A study performed by Golf Smith using a group of golfers says:

"A group of golfers from low to high handicaps built with their existing non-aligned drivers, showing 20% - 50% off center hits." "the same drivers hit by the same golfers after shaft orientation..... 20%-50% more on center hits! (tests performed by by Howard Butler,GSC,Inc.)"

* This test has also been proven with the use of a swing robot with very similar results.

"I believe there's something to spine matching. As Professionals, we're out there with equipment everyday & there's so much to try & so much information to digest. but spine aligning makes sense. You can tell a lot of difference in a shaft's flex & feel." - Ben Crenshaw

"I think my shafts are more consistent with the spine-matching process. they are more consistent with the way they flex & the way they kick because of the process" - PGA Tour Player Scott Verplank

Scott Verplank's whole set was spine-matched and, thus far, he is #1 in driving accuracy & has hit 67.7% of greens in regulation this year (through the Buick Classic last year) which is an increase from the previous year. The Dallas native currently ranks #23.

Our customers who have had their shaft oriented to the neutral position, all say one thing "Consistent!".
